Below is a list of common questions about The Single Gourmet. If you have a question that isn't answered below or want clarification of any Single Gourmet policies, please don't hesitate to call us during business hours at 212-980-8788.

Q. How many Single Gourmet members are there?
A. We have over 3,000 members in the New York metropolitan area.

Q. What is the "average" age of the members?
A. Members of The Single Gourmet range in age from the thirties to the early seventies with all age categories being well-represented at every event. Because we assign seating at the dinner table by age categories, you will never feel out of place or mismatched! However, we should mention that we are actively seeking younger members to make certain that our club remains active and vibrant.

Q. How much does The Single Gourmet cost.
A. Your first year of membership costs $85.00. Thereafter, yearly renewals are $45.00

Q. Is there a minimum or maximum number of events to attend?
A. Once you join, you may attend as many or as few events as you care to.

Q. Can I try The Single Gourmet before I join?
A. No. Most of our events sell out, and we feel that it would not be fair to our existing members.

Q. Can I bring a guest or guests?
A. Yes, provided, of course, that you are a member and space permits.

Q. What is the male/female ratio?
A. The male/female ratio varies. In the younger ages, there is often an excellent balance. In the older age range, there are generally more women than men, an unfortunate fact of life expectancy.

Q. How frequent are the events?
A. We hold six events every month.

Q. What if I need to cancel?
A. If you need to cancel, and it is seven days or more in advance, we will credit your account. Cancellations less than seven days in advance will not be credited unless we are able to replace your reservation. We are frequently able to replace cancelled reservations, but it depends upon available time and demand.

Q. How do I reserve for an event?
A. The easiest way is to telephone us at 212-980-8788. You may also fax your reservation to us at 212-980-3138, email us at singourmetny@aol.com, or use US mail and send to us at 59 E. 54th St, Suite 64, New York, NY 10022.

Q. How do I pay for an event?
A. Either mail us a check or provide us with a credit card number, and we will bill you. All credit card transactions are secure. If you are mailing us a check, we must receive payment seven days prior to the event.

Q. What happens when I attend my first Single Gourmet event?
A. A Single Gourmet representative will be there at the door to greet you and give you your table assignment. Typically there is a cash bar where everyone mixes and mingles for forty-five minutes to an hour before the meal. At the pre-arranged time, we all sit down to dinner.

Q. What happens if I meet someone at an event, but I was unable to ask him/her for a telephone number. Will you give me his/her telephone number?
A. No. The Single Gourmet will never provide any information regarding a member to anyone – member or not. However, if you meet someone in whom you are interested, we will contact that person for you and provide him/her with your number, and then it is up to that person if he/she wishes to respond.

Q. Can I participate in The Single Gourmet outside New York?
A. Your membership in The Single Gourmet will be honored at our branches throughout the United States. If you plan to travel, just consult our monthly newsletter. Each edition lists all the other branches with their respective telephone numbers.
